Ladies’ Class: Practical Breastfeeding, Labour, and Pushing
This practical, women-only session is designed to build confidence through hands-on learning and real-life preparation. You will be guided through breastfeeding techniques using dolls, including how to position and latch your baby effectively. The lesson also covers expressing milk by hand and pump, safe storage, choosing suitable bras, and managing challenges such as inverted nipples. You will gain practical problem-solving skills for common breastfeeding concerns such as mastitis, thrush, cracked nipples, low milk supply, and engorgement, as well as guidance on how long to breastfeed, recognising jaundice, and understanding immunisations.
The session also focuses on preparing your body for labour and birth, including pelvic floor awareness, labour techniques, and practising pushing in a supportive environment. Through guided practice and video demonstrations, you will develop confidence in applying these techniques during labour. This hands-on approach ensures you feel physically and mentally prepared for both breastfeeding and the birth experience.
